Tata Power gets shareholder nod to appoint Mehrishi as independent director

Tata Power has received shareholders approval to appoint former Union home secretary Rajiv Mehrishi as an independent director on its board. The special resolution for the appointment of Mehrishi as an independent director was passed with requisite majority, according to a regulatory filing on Tuesday. Mehrishi is a retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 1978 batch belonging to the Rajasthan cadre and has a wide experience of over 42 years. He has served in various key posts in Union and Rajasthan governments. Among other positions, he has served as Union home secretary, was also the 13th Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG). In 2022, he was awarded the Padma Bhushan.

Tata Power CEO and MD Praveer Sinha announced a Rs 6,000 crore capital investment by the company in Odisha. Tata Power Renewable Energy to set up 150 MW solar project in Solapur

Tata Power Renewable Energy said it has received a 'letter of award' to set up a 150 MW solar project in Solapur, Maharashtra. The project will be commissioned within 18 months from the power purchase agreement (PPA) execution date. "Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power receives the 'Letter of Award' (LoA) from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Corporation Ltd (MSEDCL) to set up 150MW solar project in Solapur, Maharashtra," it said in a statement. The LoA was won through tariff-based competitive bidding followed by an e-reverse auction, it added. TPREL CEO Ashish Khanna said, "The award is in line with our commitment to create a sustainable ecosystem for transitioning towards a greener future and affirms our potential to deliver...world-class solar projects." With this, the total renewables capacity of TPREL has reached 5,786 MW with an installed capacity of 3,877 MW (solar - 2,949 MW and wind - 928 MW) and 1,909 MW under various stages

Cyber attack hits IT systems of Tata Power, restoration underway

Tata Power on Friday said that a cyber attack has hit its Information Technology (IT) infrastructure and affected its systems. Tata Power Company Limited had a cyber attack on its IT infrastructure impacting some of its IT systems, a BSE filing said. The company has taken steps to retrieve and restore the systems, it informed. All critical operational systems are functioning; however, as a measure of abundant precaution, restricted access and preventive checks have been put in place for employee and customer facing portals and touch points, it added.

Tata Power to develop 10K Mw RE plant in next five years in Rajasthan

Tata Power on Friday announced its plans to develop around 10,000 MW of renewable energy capacity, mainly solar energy, in the next five years in Rajasthan. "Tata Power plans to have a renewable power portfolio of 10,000 MW in the state (Rajasthan in next five years," a company statement said. Participating in the ongoing Invest Rajasthan summit in Jaipur, it stated that it plans to develop up to 8,000 MW of utility scale projects, 1,000 MW of solar rooftop and 1,50,000 solar pumps in next five years in the state. Tata Power, along with its fully-owned subsidiary Tata Power Solar, will expand its presence in the state to generate clean energy through solar power. The company employs more than 4,500 people in the state, and its expansion projects will generate employment for more than 6,000-8,000 people in the next five years.
