DST NIDHI scheme led to over 1,200 tech-based products, 233 patents

A government initiative to promote knowledge-based and technology-driven innovation has led to the development of over 1,200 products and prototypes and generated 233 patents. The National Initiative for Developing and Harnessing Innovations (NIDHI) of the Department of Science and Technology, supported 1,074 Entrepreneurs in Residence (EIR) who set up 571 companies which created 3,693 jobs, a report released by S&T Secretary Abhay Karandikar said. Since its inception in 2016, NIDHI has contributed to India's S&T entrepreneurial landscape and played a crucial role in nurturing technology startups, including a substantial proportion led by women entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs-in-Residence (EIR) Programme is one of the programs introduced under NIDHI to inspire the best talents to be entrepreneurs, to minimise the risk involved in pursuing start-ups, and to partially set off their opportunity costs of high paying jobs. Over 300 companies from 20 countries to participate in Didac India 2024

Over 300 firms from 20 countries will showcase over 5,000 products and technologies at the 14th edition of Asia's largest education and skills sector exhibition and conference DIDAC India 2024 here. The 14th edition of Didac India is being organised by global exhibitor Messe Stuttgart India, in partnership with India Didactics Association (IDA), India's only National association for the education and skills fraternity from September 18 to 20 at Yashobhoomi (India International Convention & Expo Centre) in Delhi, a statement said. TN inks MoUs with Lincoln Electric, Visteon for investment worth Rs 850 cr

Tamil Nadu government has signed MoUs worth Rs 850 crore with companies including Lincoln Electric during the ongoing US visit of Chief Minister M K Stalin to attract investments, the state government said on Friday. The MoUs were exchanged in the presence of the chief minister on September 5 in Chicago between officials of the government and firms that have committed investments. Lincoln Electric, a leader in arc welding, robotic welding systems and plasma and oxyfuel cutting equipment inked a pact to invest Rs 500 crore for expansion of its R&D and manufacturing facility in suburban Chennai.
