Air pollution sources to be tracked on real-time basis in Delhi: Kejriwal

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday said identification of sources of air pollution on a real-time basis has now started in the national capital. He was reviewing the progress of the 'Real-time Source Apportionment Project'. The IIT team is trying to recognise more detailed identification of the types of sources, exact timing and location of pollution emission, he said. According to a statement issued by the Delhi government, the real-time source apportionment study consists of a supersite with state-of-the-art air analysers and a mobile air quality monitoring system that will measure the level of various substances in the air above Delhi. Delhi L-G asks chief secy to recover Rs 97 cr from AAP for political ads

Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena has directed the chief secretary to recover Rs 97 crore from the Aam Aadmi Party for political advertisements it published in the guise of government advertisements, official sources said on Tuesday. Identifying specific advertisements published by the government which were in "stark violation of guidelines", a Committee on Content Regulation in Government Advertising had in 2016 directed the Directorate of Information and Publicity (DIP) to quantify the amounts spent by it in such advertisements and recover the same from the ruling AAP, they added. The DIP quantified that Rs 97,14,69,137 had been spent or booked on account of "non-conforming advertisements". "Of this, while payments amounting to over Rs 42.26 crore had already been released by the DIP, Rs 54.87 crore for advertisements published were still pending disbursal," a source said. The DIP in 2017 directed the AAP to pay over Rs 42.26 crore to the state exchequer immediately and direct

Modi govt 'rewarding' China instead of 'punishing' it, says Kejriwal

AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday lashed out at the Centre over recent Arunachal border face-off, accusing the Modi government of "rewarding" China with high volumes of imports instead of "punishing" it for incursions into India. Addressing the party's national council and national executive meetings here, the Delhi Chief Minister also said that winning five seats in recently concluded Gujarat assembly polls was as difficult as "milking an ox". He claimed that while Chinese aggression is increasing at the border, the BJP-led Centre says "everything is alright". Instead of "retaliating and punishing" China, the Modi government is "rewarding Beijing by allowing an increase in imports of Chinese goods even though many Indian soldiers put their lives while fighting Chinese troops, he charged. Kejriwal said that India imported Chinese goods worth USD 65 billion in 2020-21. "Then China again showed a much bigger eye (to India) and the BJP government let the import of Chine

Days after clashes between Indian and Chinese troops on the Line of Actual Control (LAC), Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday asked why doesn't India stop its trade with China. He took to Twitter to pose this question in Hindi. "Why don't we stop our trade with China? Most of the commodities imported from China are manufactured in India. On Tuesday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh told Parliament that the Indian Army thwarted an attempt by China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) to "unilaterally" change the status quo at Yangtse area in Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh on December 9.
