Motorcycles were inducted for the first time for the Delhi government's bus lane enforcement on Tuesday, with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal saying that they will be able to pass on narrow roads, something that was impossible for the Innova cars. Kejriwal on Tuesday flagged off 66 enforcement vehicles, including 36 motorcycles and 30 Innova cars. He flagged them off along with 50 CNG low-floor cluster buses. For the first time, motorcycles are being inducted. These vehicles would mostly be utilised for lane enforcement. In the past, we observed it was difficult for an Innova to pass on narrow roads for enforcement. Motorcycles will solve that problem and ensure that lane rules be enforced effectively," he said. The government began lane enforcement in April and has received positive results from this move, the CM said. "People have now developed a habit of driving in their lanes and they are following the rule on their own. We are not far from the time when the transport system of

He also flagged off 30 Innova cars and 36 motorbikes for the enforcement wing of the Transport Department. "These vehicles will be involved in enforcing lane discipline. From April onwards, we started the lane discipline drive," he said at the event. Kejriwal said there will be 1,800 electric buses on the roads of Delhi by 2023, while 80 per cent of the city's bus fleet will be electric by 2025. The government has floated a tender for 1,500 electric buses, and by November next year, 1,800 such buses will be playing on Delhi roads, he said. "We have inducted 50 new low-floor CNG (air-conditioned) buses. Form many years, when people faced inconvenience since there were no buses. But in the last two three years, electric, CNG, cluster buses have been inducted," he added. The new buses will be kept at th

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday claimed that many leaders and workers of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Gujarat secretly support his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and want to see the defeat of their own party in the upcoming Assembly elections. Targeting the BJP over the posters that surfaced in several Gujarat cities on Saturday in which he was termed as "anti-Hindu", the AAP's national convener said those behind the posters were "demons and descendants of Kans". "Many BJP leaders and workers meet me and secretly ask me to do something to defeat the ruling party. I would like to tell all the BJP workers and leaders who want to defeat their party to work secretly for AAP," he said at a rally in tribal-dominated Valsad district in Gujarat, where Assembly polls are slated to be held in the next couple of months. On Saturday, AAP national convener Kejriwal and Mann had addressed a public meeting in Dahod town and participated in a 'Tiranga Yatra' in Vadodara. BJP leaders in Gujarat on Saturday lashed out at the Kejriwal-led party, after a viral video clip showed AAP's Delhi minister Rajendra Pal Gautam at an event where hundreds took a pledge to convert to Buddhism while denouncing Hindu deities. Several banners had also surfaced in prominent cities of Gujarat, calling Kejriwal "anti-Hindu". The AAP is trying to position itself as the main opposition to the BJP, which has governed Gujarat for
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat must explain why it is always someone from the upper castes heading the organisation, the AAP demanded on Saturday, a day after his remark that concepts such as varna and jaati should be completely discarded. The Arvind Kejriwal-led party also attacked the BJP, saying it has "divided the country the most in the name of varna (class), jaati (caste) and dharma (religion)". At a book release function in Nagpur on Friday, the chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), which is the ideological fountainhead of the BJP, had said the caste system has no relevance now and concepts such as varna and jaati should be completely discarded. "When he says such things, I want to ask the RSS chief why it is always someone from the upper castes who becomes the RSS chief," Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Durgesh Pathak said when asked by reporters for his comment on Bhagwat's remark. He, however, did not give any details on the caste of all the individuals who have headed th

And God has sent me with a special task-- to finish off these descendants of Kansa, to rid the public of corruption and hooligans," he said. "We will work together to fulfil God's desire. Saxena has also accused the chief minister and his associates of levelling false allegations and spreading them through social media causing "irreparable loss" to the people they targeted. In a cheeky reply to Saxena's letter, Kejriwal in a tweet on Saturday said, "Another love letter has come." He also accused the LG of destroying the lives of people in Delhi. "BJP is hell bent on destroying the lives of the people of Delhi through LG. Every day these people make a fuss about something or the other. As the ED launched fresh searches in connection with the alleged Delhi excise policy scam, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday said hundreds of raids by central agencies to find evidence against his deputy Manish Sisodia have yielded nothing as he didn't do anything. Time of hundreds of sleuths of the Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is being wasted for "dirty politics", he said. The ED launched raids at about 35 locations in Delhi, Punjab and Hyderabad earlier in the day in connection with its money laundering investigation into alleged irregularities in the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy, official sources said. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia is an accused in an FIR registered by the CBI in connection with alleged irregularities in the formulation and implementation of the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22. "Over 500 raids, more than 300 officials have been working round the clock for three months to find evidence against Manish Sisodia.
With his government at loggerheads with Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena over multiple issues, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said even his wife does not "scold" him as much as the LG. The AAP supremo, tongue firmly in cheek, said in a tweet he has not received as many "love letters" from his wife "in the entire life" as he has from the LG in just six months. "LG sahib, chill a bit!" Kejriwal said in his tweet in Hindi. "And ask your super boss also to chill a bit." Kejriwal's remarks came days after Saxena in a letter accused the chief minister and his ministerial colleagues of showing "utter disregard" towards the commemoration of the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and former prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri by not attending events at Raj Ghat and Vijay Ghat. Saxena had termed their absence "unacceptable" and "appalling", saying such events call for "commemoration of much beyond the issuing of symbolic advertisements in newspapers that your government ver
