Maharashtra sees 722 Covid-19 cases, 3 fatalities; active tally at 5,549

Maharashtra on Tuesday reported 722 fresh COVID-19 cases and three fatalities, taking the tally of infections to 81,62,842 and the death toll to 1,48,507, the state health department said. The fresh cases rose thrice compared to Monday when 226 infections were recorded in the state. No COVID-19 fatality was recorded a day before. The active tally of cases in Maharashtra now stands at 5,549. At 328, the Mumbai circle reported the highest number of fresh cases on Tuesday, followed by 161 in Pune Circle, 160 in Nagpur circle, 24 in Latur circle, 23 in Kolhapur circle, 14 in Nashik circle, 11 in Akola circle and single case in Aurangabad circle, the health department bulletin said. Nagpur, Latur and Mumbai circles reported a single fatality each, it stated. Mumbai city saw 191 cases and one fatality, which increased the tally to 11,61,214 and the death toll to 19,762. India records 6,660 new Covid-19 infections, active cases dip to 63,380

India has recorded 6,660 new coronavirus infections, while the active cases have decreased to 63,380, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday. The death toll has increased to 5,31,369 with 24 deaths, which includes nine reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am stated. The daily positivity rate has been recorded at 3.52 per cent and the weekly positivity rate was pegged at 5.42 per cent. The Covid case tally was recorded at 4.49 crore. The active cases now comprise 0.14 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.67 per cent, the ministry said. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,43, 11,078 and the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.18 per cent. According to the ministry's website, 220.66 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.

Delhi logs 689 fresh Covid-19 cases, 3 deaths, positivity rate of 29.42%

Delhi on Monday logged 948 fresh COVID-19 infections and three fatalities with a case positivity rate of 29.42, according to data shared by the Health department here. With the new fatalities, the death toll from the pandemic rose to 26,600 in the national capital. The total case tally is at 20,34,061. Of the 7,974 Covid beds in the city, 371 are occupied, the data showed. Delhi witnessed 948 COVID-19 infections and two fatalities with a case positivity rate of 25.69 on Sunday. It logged 1,515 cases and six fatalities with a case positivity rate of 26.46 on Saturday. The department did not issue a bulletin on Friday. The city saw three fatalities and 1,603 fresh caseload additions on Thursday with a positivity rate of 26.75. On Wednesday, it reported six deaths along with 1,757 new cases with a positivity rate of 28.63.

India has logged 7,178 new coronavirus infections, while the active cases have dipped after 69 days, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Monday. The death toll has increased to 5,31,345 with 16 deaths, which includes eight reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am stated. The active cases stood at 65,683. The daily positivity rate has been recorded at 9.16 per cent and the weekly positivity rate was pegged at 5.41 per cent. The Covid case tally was recorded at 4.48 crore. Delhi logs 948 fresh Covid-19 cases, two deaths, positivity rate of 25.69%

Delhi on Sunday logged 948 fresh COVID-19 infections and two fatalities with a case positivity rate of 25.69, according to data shared by the Health department here. With the new fatalities, the death toll from the pandemic rose to 26,597 in the national capital. The total case tally is at 20,33,372. Covid was the primary cause of death in one of the fatalities, the Health department said. Of the 7,973 Covid beds in the city, 370 are occupied, the data showed. Delhi on Saturday logged 1,515 fresh COVID-19 infections and six fatalities with a case positivity rate of 26.46. The department did not issue a bulletin on Friday. The city saw three fatalities and 1,603 fresh caseload additions on Thursday with a positivity rate of 26.75. On Wednesday, it reported six deaths along with 1,757 new cases with a positivity rate of 28.63.

Maharashtra reports 850 new Covid cases, four deaths in last 24 hours

Maharashtra on Saturday recorded 850 fresh coronavirus cases and four fatalities, the health department said. With new additions, the state's COVID-19 tally rose to 81,61,349 and the death toll to 1,48,502, as per a health department bulletin. The state had recorded 993 cases and five fatalities on Friday. Of the four fresh COVID-19 fatalities in the state, two were recorded in Mumbai and the rest two in Kalyan-Dombivaliy city. The current case fatality rate in Maharashtra is 1.81 per cent. Mumbai logged 177 COVID-19 cases on Saturday. At present, the dominant variant of COVID is Omicron XBB.1.16. A total of 681 cases were found to be infected with this variant in the state so far. There were five deaths reported among the cases of this variant, the bulletin said. Since January 1, a total of 84 COVID-19 deaths have been recorded in Maharashtra. XBB.1.16 Covid variant no cause for concern: Maharashtra heath minister

Maharashtra Health Minister Dr Tanaji Sawant on Saturday said the current XBB.1.16 variant of coronavirus was no cause for concern and citizens should not panic about the rise in cases.
