Mel Gibson, Kate Bosworth to star in 'Force of Nature'

Hollywood veteran Mel Gibson and Kate Bosworth are set to star in action film "Force of Nature". Michael Polish is directing the movie, reported Variety. Cory Miller has penned the script, which focuses on "a retired detective who must protect residents of a building that is being evacuated during a hurricane while criminals attempt to pull off a robbery there." Production is set to begin in July in Puerto Rico. Producers are Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films CEOs Randall Emmett and George Furla with Luillo Ruiz. Tim Sullivan and Alex Eckert are attached as executive producers.

Liam Neeson joins indie action-thriller 'The Minuteman'

Veteran actor Liam Neeson has come on board to play the lead role in independent action-thriller "The Minuteman". Robert Lorenz is directing the movie from a script he co-wrote with Chris Charles and Danny Kravitz, reported Variety. The story revolves around a retired Vietnam veteran who finds himself responsible for the life of a young boy being hunted by the cartel. Production on "The Minuteman" will begin in September on location in New Mexico and Ohio. The project will be produced by Zero Gravity Management's Tai Duncan and Mark Williams, alongside Sculptor Media's Warren Goz and Eric Gold.

Bella Thorne to lead horror movie 'Friendship Game'

Actor Bella Throne has been roped in to play the lead role in the upcoming sci-fi horror film "Friendship Game". Scooter Corkle is directing the movie from a script penned by Damien Ober, who is best known for his work on Netflix series "The OA". According to Variety, "Friendship Games" will revolve around "a group of teens in a small town as they come across a strange object that tests their loyalties to each other with increasingly destructive consequences the deeper into the game they go." Daniel Bekerman of Scythia Films is the producing the film. The principal photography is scheduled to start in August in Vancouver, Canada.

Steven Soderbergh doesn't want to 'jinx' new Bill and Ted film

Filmmaker Steven Soderbergh says he does not want to celebrate the third film in the "Bill and Ted" franchise just yet as he is afraid to "jinx" the new movie. Film's leads Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are returning for the third installment "Bill and Ted Face The Music" as Theodore 'Ted' Logan and William 'Bill' S Preston Esq, respectively. William Sadler will reprise his role as Death. "It's been such a long process, and there have been so many false starts and promises (with the film). Until we're shooting, I wouldn't dream of jinxing it by toasting to our production," Soderbergh told The Times newspaper. Roger Donaldson to direct Jack The Ripper thriller 'Immortal'

Roger Donaldson is set to direct a historical thriller on unidentified serial killer Jack The Ripper, titled "Immortal". Jack The Ripper was generally believed to have been active in the largely impoverished areas in and around London's Whitechapel district in the 19th century. According to Deadline, the "Species" helmer will direct from script by Pete Dowling ("Flightplan"). The plot will have ace detective Byrnes and greenhorn cop James McCafferty, who belong to different moralities and yet work together to hunt Jack the Ripper who, some believe, sailed to New York after his London killings suddenly ceased in 1888. Casting is currently underway. The film is being produced by GFC Films, based out of New Zealand, along with XYZ Films executive producing. Sean Sorensen of Royal Viking Entertainment is also attached to executive produce. "Windfall" is adding more names to its cast with Jamie Chung, Elliott Gould and Jessie T Usher to star in the Netflix thriller. According to Deadline, Michael Scott is set to direct the original feature from David Golden's script. New entrants also include Cam Gigandet and Sasha Alexander. When a wealthy elderly man dies and unexpectedly leaves his estate to his new caregiver, she is drawn into deception and murder. How she survives the web of lies is the plot. Ana Lily Amirpour to direct female-led 'Cliffhanger' reboot

Ana Lily Amirpour has been roped in to direct the female-fronted reboot of the action thriller "Cliffhanger". According to The Hollywood Reporter, the director of "Bad Batch" will helm the modern take of the 1993 classic by Renny Harlin. While casting is underway for a female lead, "Aquaman" star Jason Momoa is in talks for a cameo. "We are setting out to create a thrill-ride on the mountain which taps into the primal side of an action movie, where you see what a person is capable of doing to survive in the most extreme situations, pushed to the limits," Amirpour said. Sascha Penn is writing the script. Neal Moritz and Toby Jaffe will produce under their Original Film banner, alongside Thorsten Schumacher and partner Lars Sylvest for Rocket Science, who will also finance.

Australia's $50 note misspells 'responsibility' 46 million times!

In a major embarrassment for authorities, Australia's brand new $50 note has a hidden blunder, an unfortunate typo, where the word "responsibility" has been misspelt for a whopping 46 million times!The A$50 note, which has anti-counterfeiting features, was printed by the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) and entered into general circulation last year. The central bank has spelled "responsibility" as "responsibilty" on millions of the new yellow notes.Confirming the typo, RBA said that the error would be rectified in the next print run later this year, CNN reported.Around 400 million notes of $50 were printed and 46 million of them are in circulation. The total value of the notes in circulation is around $2.3 billion.The mistake was spotted by a person who posted a photograph of the $50 note on social media, encircling the "responsibilty" word..

Sunny Deol's roadshow in West Delhi evokes massive response

Bollywood actor and BJP candidate from Gurdaspur Lok Sabha seat Sunny Deol took out a roadshow on Thursday in Hari Nagar under West Delhi constituency in support of party nominee and sitting MP Parvesh Singh Verma. Hundreds of people lined up along the road to catch a glimpse of the actor who reached the venue almost three-and-half-hours late. Allahabad HC stays arrest of film producers in cheating, cheque bounce case

The Allahabad High Court Thursday stayed the arrest of Bollywood producers Sameer Dixit and Jatish Varma in a cheating and cheque bounce case related to a movie titled 'Tadka'. The bench comprising Justice Vipin Sinha and Justice Ifaqat Ali Khan on a petition filed by Sameer Dixit and Jatish Varma stayed their arrest till submission of final report, on the condition that the petitioners will cooperate in investigation of the case. One Ranvijay Singh, the financier of the movie, had lodged an FIR at Cantonment Police Station, Varanasi, against producers of the movie alleging that they had not paid back the money which he had given to them as a financier. The advocate appearing for petitioners argued that as per agreement, the producers of the movie had made partial payment and the remaining amount was to be paid after the release of the movie. However, since the release of the movie was stayed by an order of the Bombay High Court, the producer duo are not bound to make further payments
