In a move aimed at improving pass percentage of schools, the Haryana government has called for announcements by temples, mosques and gurdwaras to wake up students of classes 10 and 12 early so that they can prepare for their board exams to be held in March next year. The state education department has also asked school authorities concerned to ask parents to wake their wards up at 4.30 am to utilize early morning time for preparation. In a communication to principals of all government schools, the department stressed that a joint plan be made by parents and teachers so that students get some extra hours for self-study. For this, morning time is most suitable. At that time, mind is fresh and there is no noise of vehicles. For this, every class teacher should request parents that they will wake up their children at 4:30 in the morning and will ask them to sit for studies by 5:15 am. Haryana allocates Rs 68.42 cr for Rs 2,500/month pension to cancer patients

The Haryana government has made a separate annual budgetary provision of Rs 68.42 crore to provide patients suffering from Stage-3 and Stage-4 cancer in the state a monthly pension of Rs 2,500. The decision follows an earlier announcement by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to grant monthly pensions to cancer patients. "Earlier, in terms of giving monthly pension to cancer patients, Tripura was the only state in the country that has been giving monthly financial assistance of Rs 1,000 to Stage-3 cancer patients," an official statement here said on Friday. The Haryana government has decided that cancer patients will continue to get an additional monthly pension of Rs 2,500 even if they are taking advantage of other social security pension or old age pension schemes, it said. Bharat Jodo Yatra resumes from Kherli Lala on last day of Haryana leg

The Congress's Bharat Jodo Yatra, led by party leader leader Rahul Gandhi, resumed on Friday from Kherli Lala in Sohna on the third and last day of its Haryana leg in the first phase. Haryana RERA slaps Rs 25 lakh penalty each on 5 builders in Gurugram

The Gurugram bench of the Haryana real estate regulatory authority (HRERA) has imposed penalties of Rs 25 lakh each on five builders after they failed to deliver their housing units to buyers on time. The regulator, however, allowed the realtors' RERA registration certificates to remain in force with new timelines for completion of their projects. As per the official statement, Identity Buildtech Private Limited has been fined for not completing its project Ansal Highland Park at Sector 103 within the declared timeline of June 2022. In this case, the authority has allowed the RERA registration to be in force till May 2024. Similarly, a penalty of Rs 25 lakh has been imposed on BPTP Limited for not completing its project Park Terra at Sector 37-D, Gurugram. The deadline for this project, which was April 2022 earlier, has been extended till April 24. Another developer Advance India Projects Limited has been penalised for its failure to complete the construction of Zen Residences -1 .

No need to panic, but should voluntarily follow Covid norms: Anil Vij

In the wake of a sudden spurt in Covid cases in some countries, Haryana's Health Minister Anil Vij on Thursday said there was no need to panic, but asked people to voluntarily follow precautionary measures like wearing of masks in crowded places and using hand sanitiser. Vij said if any specific guidelines or directions pertaining to Covid come from the Centre, they will be fully implemented in the state. "There is no need to panic. But people must themselves follow measures against Covid like wearing masks, using sanitisers etc. Everyone should voluntarily follow these measures," Vij said in a statement. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra resumed from Malab village in this district on the second day of its Haryana leg on Thursday with senior leaders from the state joining the former party chief in the march, braving the morning chill. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has declared Lord Parshuram Jayanti as a gazetted holiday in the state. Khattar made the announcement on Sunday while speaking at the 'Lord Parshuram Mahakumbh', a state-level event held in Karnal to commemorate the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Parshuram Jayanti is celebrated on 'Akshaya Tritiya' every year. According to the Hindu calendar, the Lord Parshuram's birthday falls on the 'tritiya' (third day) of 'shukla paksha' in the month of 'Vaisakh', which occurs in April or May. Police in Hansi in Haryana have developed a mobile application to keep track of criminals and people accused in different cases, an official spokesperson said. The app -- 'Criminal Monitoring System' -- is the first such attempt in the state to monitor and track an accused, the spokesperson said. Information about the accused and their crimes have been updated in the app, developed by police personnel in Hansi, he said. "Along with this, if a criminal is released from jail on parole, the police will immediately be notified. Resident doctors of PGIMS-Rohtak end strike after meeting Haryana CM

Resident doctors at the Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) in Rohtak on Friday called off their strike and resumed duties. They were on strike for the past eight days in solidarity with the ongoing agitation by MBBS students against the Haryana government's bond policy. The decision to call off the strike was taken following a meeting with the Haryana Chief Minister on November 30, in which Manohar Lal Khattar announced changes in the bond policy.
