Head constable of Rajasthan Armed Constabulary shoots himself outside Finance Ministry

A head constable of the Rajasthan Armed Constabulary (RAC) deployed outside the Union Finance Ministry allegedly shot himself with his service weapon on Tuesday, police said. The deceased identified as Jai Narain (48) was posted on guard duty near gate number 2 of North Block, they said. "The incident took place at around 12.40 pm. In the CCTV footage, the victim can be seen shooting himself with his service carbine," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Madhur Verma. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead. No suicide note has been found from the spot, the officer said adding further investigation is underway.

'Blue Corner Notice' issued against 100 people who set off from Kerala on boat

The International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) has issued 'Blue Corner Notice' against 100 Indians who went missing from Munambam port of Kerala, said the Kerala police on Tuesday."A blue corner notice helps to track individuals allegedly involved in criminal activities and suspected to be in other countries. We have further requested to issue notices for 120 persons" said police.At least 164 people from Delhi, who set sail from Kerala coast on January 12 this year, are still missing. These people are from the Madangir area in South Delhi and were on board along with other 79 people in the boat.No family members have any clue of those who were on the boat till date. They were sailing in the sea illegally without a passport or an identification card.The family members are now waiting for government intervention in this matter.

Jharkhand lynching: 'Jai Shri Ram' can be chanted by embracing people, says Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi

Union Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi Tuesday termed the lynching of a 24-year-old man in Jharkhand a "heinous crime" and said "Jai Shri Ram" can be chanted by embracing people and not by throttling them. Naqvi made the remarks on the sidelines of a training programme for Haj deputationists and called for stern action against those involved in such incidents. Tabrez Ansari was attacked by a mob, which accused him of theft and allegedly forced him to chant "Jai Shri Ram" and "Jai Hanuman" in Jharkhand's Saraikela Kharsawan district. "Jai Shri Ram can be chanted by embracing people and not after throttling them. Such incidents cannot be justified. We have committed that we won't let the destructive agenda dominate the development agenda," Naqvi said. Mumbai: One arrested after suicide attempt inside BMC headquarters

A person was arrested after he tried to attempt suicide inside the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) headquarters here on Tuesday.The man identified as Sudam Shinde was upset with his complaint regarding a toilet structure near his residence that was not being addressed.The accused was arrested under section 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharging his duty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).Investigations in the matter are underway.

Rajiv Gandhi assassination: HC allows Nalini to appear in person to argue on plea for leave

The Madras High Court Tuesday granted permission to Nalini Sriharan, a life convict in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, to appear in person on July 5 and argue on her plea for six months ordinary leave to make arrangements for her daughter's wedding. A division bench of Justice M M Sundaresh and Justice M Nirmal Kumar gave her permission to appear in person on July 5 at 2.15 pm to argue her case. Nalini, who has been in prison for over 27 years, wanted the court to direct the superintendent of police, Special Prison for Women in Vellore, to produce her before the court so that she could argue her case for leave as party-in-person. The court had on June 11 observed that the right of Nalini to appear in person to argue on her plea cannot be denied. A 36-year old man was allegedly duped by a woman who left him after two days of marriage which was arranged by middlemen in Jind, Haryana. Married woman killed in UP for dowry

A 36-year-old married woman was allegedly killed for dowry at Simbhalka village under Shamli district, police said on Tuesday. Sumita, wife of Krishan Kumar, was strangled to death on Monday and her body was thrown on the roadside, they said. UP: Man arrested for killing brother over trivial issue

A man was arrested here Tuesday for killing his elder brother over a trivial issue in Belha village, police said. Babadeen, under the influence of liquor , was creating ruckus during a wedding function in the village under Dehat Police Station area on Monday night and his 43-year-old elder brother Raj Kumar checked him from doing so, SP Dev Ranjan Verma said. Man gets 7-year RI for raping minor girl

A court here in Maharashtra has awarded seven years' rigorous imprisonment to a 31-year-old man for raping a minor girl in 2013. District Judge P P Jadhav in his order last week also imposed a fine of Rs 32,000 on the accused, Manish alias Mashal Gangaram Shinge, a resident of Waghbil area here. According to the prosecution, the accused, who was already married and had two children, developed friendship with the 16-year-old student, who also resided in the same locality. He used to call the victim and also visit her house to which her parents objected. On March 29, 2013, when the girl was returning home along with her sister, the accused snatched her mobile phone and forcibly took her on his two-wheeler to a secluded place where he raped her. Vegetable vendor stabs customer to death over Rs 10 dispute in Mumbai

A vegetable vendor was arrested for allegedly stabbing his customer to death over a dispute on payment of Rs 10 in Dadar area here, police said on Tuesday.The accused has been identified as 25-year-old Soni Lal Mahonto, Dadar Assistant Commissioner of Police Sunil Gawker said.The deceased, Mohammed Hanif, had gone to purchase vegetable in a market in Dadar area of the city around 11 pm on Monday when the incident took place.A dispute broke out between the man and a vegetable vendor which escalated to such a level that the latter stabbed him with his vegetable knife. The accused stabbed Hanif several times on his neck and hands before fleeing the spot, the police said."As soon as we were informed about the incident, we reached the spot and rushed the man to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead," Gawker said.Shivaji Nagar police have registered a case of murder against the accused and initiated an investigation in the matter.

Maha: 2 transgenders rob women on pretext of healing 'curse'

Two unidentified transgenders have been booked for cheating two women and robbing them of jewellery worth Rs 1.66 lakh in Palghar district of Maharashtra, police said Tuesday. As per the complaint filed by one of the victims, two sari-clad transgenders came to her house in Vasai area on June 16 and claimed her family had a "curse", and that they would help her get rid of it, police spokesman Hemant Katkar said. They then asked the woman to get her jewellery which they required to perform certain "rituals". The complainant told the police that as she got scared of the curse, she gave the accused her gold jewellery items worth Rs 87,500 for the rituals, Katkar said. Cambodia charges 4 Chinese after building collapse killed 28

A court in Cambodia has charged four Chinese people with crimes over the collapse of a building under construction that killed 28 workers. The Preah Sihanouk provincial court said Tuesday the construction owner was charged with unintentional homicide and the three other Chinese were charged with conspiracy. The four were put in pretrial detention. The charges carry a penalty of up to three years in jail. Odisha: Man shot dead by two bike-borne assailants

A man was shot dead by two unidentified bike-borne assailants in front of his office here.The deceased, identified as Amit Dal, was playing cards with his friends in front of his office situated near the Brajrajnagar bus stand when three rounds from a country-made pistol were fire at him around 8:10 pm on Monday.His friends and other people at the spot tried to nab the criminals but they escaped leaving the bike and pistol behind.Dal sustained two bullet injuries on his chest and stomach. 19-year-old girl Shravani committed suicide here allegedly after being "counselled" by her parents for excessive use of mobile phone.The girl was allegedly counselled by her mother on Monday, following which she committed suicide.State police have registered a case under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and have sent the body to Osmania General Hospital for post-mortem."Today evening, a 19-year-old old girl, Shravani, committed suicide after being counselled by her mother for excessive use of mobile phone.
