17 IAS officers transferred in UP
Days after the conclusion of Lok Sabha elections, the Uttar Pradesh government has transferred 17 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers.District Magistrate of Chitrakoot, Vishaak G was named the Special Secretary of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while Jitendra Mohan Singh was appointed Joint Director of Cadre Headquarters in Lucknow.The government changed the District Magistrates of many districts including Azamgarh, Barabanki, Sultanpur and Firozabad.Commissioners of Azamgarh and Saharanpur were also removed.
Eyeing 2020 polls, Sanders to rake up defending democratic socialism in Washington
Democrat Senator Bernie Sanders is scheduled to deliver a speech on defending democratic socialism next week in Washington DC as the battle for the top post heats up ahead of next year's presidential polls.Sanders is slated to deliver the address at George Washington University on June 12 where "he will put democratic socialism in its context as part of the American progressive tradition," according to a statement from his campaign."He will make the case that a strong grassroots campaign based on these progressive values is the only way to confront oligarchy and authoritarianism and defeat Donald Trump," the statement said.A self-described democratic socialist and progressive, Sanders, a senator from Vermont, is known for his opposition to economic inequality.Sanders is the oldest candidate running for the presidential post in the 2020 elections.In February, the 77-year-old had announced that he will be contesting in the 2020 presidential elections, marking his second consecutive bid .

Hillary Clinton's youngest brother Tony Rodham died Friday night. The former US senator, Secretary of State, first lady and Democratic presidential candidate announced the death Saturday on Twitter . Clinton remembered her brother as a kind and generous person who could walk into a room and "light it up with laughter." Senior BJP leader and Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan Saturday said the party has not abandoned its '120 plus mission' for the Odisha assembly, and urged its MLAs to work hard to attain the target. AIMIM seeks LoP post in Telangana Assembly after merger of 12 Cong MLAs with TRS
AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi Saturday said his party would urge the Telangana Assembly Speaker to accord the opposition party status to his party consequent to the merger of 12 Congress MLAs with the ruling TRS. Senior BJP leader Mukul Roy on Saturday said the Singur movement, which had catapulted Mamata Banerjee and the TMC to power in West Bengal, was a "mistake", as it neither helped industry in the state nor did any good to the farming community.
