The Ministry of Education has asked the CBSE to work out logistics for conducting board exams twice a year from the 2025-26 academic session, according to sources. The plan for introduction of a semester system has been ruled out, they said. The ministry and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will hold consultations with school principals next month for conducting board exams twice a year, the sources said. The CBSE is currently in the process of working out the modalities of how will the academic calendar be structured to accommodate another set of board exams without impacting the undergraduate admission schedule, they said. "The ministry has asked the CBSE to work on the logistics of how will board exams be conducted twice a year. The board is working out the modalities and a consultation will be organised next month with school principals," a source said. "The idea being explored is to conduct two editions of the board exams at the end of the year from the 2025-26
The Uttar Pradesh State Board of High School and Intermediate Education on Saturday announced the board exam results, with Class 10 students recording a pass percentage of 89.55 while that for Class 12 was at 82.60. "Prachi Nigam of Sitapur district was the Class 10 topper with 98.50 per cent marks. Shubham Verma, also from Sitapur, stood first in the Class 12 exam with 97.80 per cent," Education (Secondary) Director Mahendra Dev told PTI. The board exams were held between February 22 and March 9 at 8,265 centres. The answer papers were checked between March 16 and 30, board officials said.
The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) on Sunday announced the class 10 results, with the overall pass percentage being 82.91. The pass percentage for boys was 84.45, while it was 81.4 for girls. "This year, a total of 16,64,252 candidates appeared for the examination, of which 8,58,785 were girls and 8,05,467 were boys. A total of 13,79,842 candidates, including 6,99,549 girls and 6,80,293 boys, passed the examination," BSEB chairman Anand Kishore said. The overall pass percentage was 81.04 last year, he added. A total of 4,52,302 students passed with first division while 5,24,965 students secured second division and 3,80,732 got third division, he added. The topper of class 10 is Shivankar Kumar of Zilla School in Purnea district. Kumar got 97.80 per cent. Adarsh Kumar of Samastipur scored 488 marks and secured the second position in the state. Amid ethnic violence, the number of students appearing for Class 12 state board examinations in Manipur this year has dropped by around 5,000 to over 31,000, an official said on Wednesday. Last year, more than 36,000 students appeared for the Council of Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate Exams (COHSEM) across 120 centres in the state, he said. "The number of students and examination centres has decreased this year as compared to last year due to the prevailing law and order situation," COHSEM Chairman T Ojit Singh said. The CBSE issued an advisory on Wednesday for the students appearing in the board exams in view of the traffic restrictions imposed in Delhi, advising them to leave their homes early to arrive at the examination centres in time. Traffic restrictions are currently in place in the national capital in view of the farmers' "Delhi Chalo" march. The board exams for Classes 10 and 12 will commence from Thursday. More than 39 lakh students will appear in the exams this year from India and 26 other countries. In Delhi, more than 5.8 lakh students will take the exams at 877 centres. "As the examination starts at 10.30 am, hence, all the students have been directed to reach their examination centres on or before 10 am," the advisory read. It cited the current situation in Delhi and said it is expected that there will be traffic issues that might cause a delay in reaching the examination centres.
