Doctors in Delhi hospital claim assault by patient's husband, accused held

A 56-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting doctors and misbehaving with nursing staff at the Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital in Northeast Delhi, officials said on Thursday. Israr (56), who runs a spare parts shop, had taken his wife to the hospital for treatment on Wednesday night when he allegedly assaulted doctors, they said. As the accused threatened the doctors and abused them, hospital staffers recorded it on their mobile phones. According to the FIR, the accused's wife was given medication by the doctor on duty based on her complaints but her husband refused those and instead suggested his own mode of treatment, a police official said. Dr Rajneesh, a junior resident at the hospital told PTI Videos that when the hospital staffers ignored the man's suggestions, he became violent and started misbehaving with the doctors. Doctors provide elective OPD services outside Nirman Bhawan in Delhi

Doctors have decided to provide elective outpatient services outside Nirman Bhawan on Monday as they continue their strike for the eighth day over the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata. Resident doctors will be available to provide elective OPD services in around 36 specialties, including medicine, surgery, obstetrics & gynaecology, paediatrics, ophthalmology, and orthopedics, to patients outside Nirman Bhawan on Monday, according to a statement by the AIIMS RDA. However, emergency services will continue as before at the hospitals. A man died after he was allegedly mowed down by a speeding Mercedes car here in southeast Delhi, police said on Sunday. The driver of the car was arrested later, they said. According to the victim's family members, the car allegedly hit his cycle from behind and it was dragged on the road for several metres. The 35-year-old victim died on spot after the accident Saturday morning while the driver of the car, Pradeep Gautam (45) from Noida, fled from the scene with his vehicle, police said. A Delhi court is likely to pronounce on August 23 its order on the bail applications of four jailed co-owners of a coaching centre basement where three civil service aspirants drowned last month. NCRTC invites bids for co-branding rights for 5 stations on RRTS corridor

The national capital region transport corporation (NCRTC) has invited bids for exclusive semi-naming and co-branding rights for its five stations on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor, a statement said on Friday. The five stations for which the semi-naming/co-branding rights are available are Duhai, Murad Nagar, Modi Nagar South, Modi Nagar North and Meerut South, it said. This initiative aims to enhance passenger experience and convenience while generating Non-Fare Box Revenue to support the operational costs of the RRTS Corridor. Brands awarded these rights will have the opportunity to prefix or suffix their names to station names, incorporate their brand colours on station walls, hoardings and entry/exit points, and utilise both bare and built-up retail spaces, the statement said. Several traffic diversions were imposed on borders of the national capital from Monday in view of Independence Day celebration with heavy vehicles prohibited from entering the city, according to an advisory. According to the police advisory, elaborate law and order and traffic arrangements have been made for the celebrations on August 15. No heavy transport vehicle (HTV) will be allowed to enter the city on Monday at 10 pm to Tuesday 12 pm and similarly from Wednesday 10 pm to Thursday 12 pm, the advisory stated.
