NKorea sending condolences for SKorea's former first lady

South Korea said North Korean leader Kim Jong Un will send flowers and a message of condolence Wednesday afternoon for the funeral of former South Korean first lady Lee Hee-ho, whose late husband held a historic summit with Kim's father in 2000. Seoul's Unification Ministry said North Korean officials led by Kim's sister, Kim Yo Jong, a senior official of North Korea's ruling party, will deliver the flowers and message to South Korean officials at a border village Wednesday afternoon. South Korean presidential national security director Chung Eui-yong and Vice Unification Minister Suh Ho will travel to Panmunjom to receive the North Korean offers, the ministry said in an emailed statement. The contact between the Korean officials will come at a delicate time in relations between the rivals. Muzaffarpur: 31 children die of Acute Encephalitis Syndrome in June

As many as 31 children have died so far in the month of June reportedly due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) in the Muzaffarpur district.Sunil Shahi, Superintendent SKMCH, Muzaffarpur, told ANI, "From January to June 2, 13 patients were admitted, of them, three had died. However, since the beginning of June to this day 86 people have been admitted and of them, 31 have died".In total 109 have been admitted in this year so far in which 34 children have died, he said.As many as 14 children have died due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES).Encephalitis is a viral infection, which causes mild flu-like symptoms such as a fever or a headache.

MP: Searing heat and water scarcity kills monkeys in Damoh

Not only human beings even animals are bearing the brunt of searing heat in Madhya Pradesh. Locals told ANI that a troop of monkeys in Damoh died because of heat and lack of water in the past week.Several northern states of the country have been sweltering as the temperature there has risen to over 45 degree Celsius."There is a scarcity of water in the area. Around 40-50 monkeys have died due to scorching heat and lack of water. Others animals such as cow, dogs are falling sick due to the extremely hot conditions in the region," said Baba Komal Shah, a resident of Damoh."There is a lot of decomposition smells in and around the area. Mother of Hyderabad-based man stranded in Riyadh seeks Indian Embassy's help

A Hyderabadi woman has urged the Indian Embassy in Riyadh to rescue her son who is stranded in the Gulf nation."Some agents in Riyadh, Saudi have locked my son in a room and they are demanding one lakh to send my son back. I filed a complaint with the local police station here in Hyderabad and then later approached the External Affairs Ministry and Indian Embassy in Riyadh, who said that my son will be rescued. I request Indian Embassy to rescue him as he is locked and is not even being given adequate food," Kaseem Bee, mother of the stranded boy told ANI.Moin was in search of a job and was approached by an agent who promised him a courier service job in Riyadh.He left for Riyadh in April on a two years contract but was cheated by those agents and was employed as a cleaner at some residence."They ask him to work for 12 hours and when he refuses to work, they start beating him and are also not paying him his salary," Kausar added.

Two die in boiler blast

Two persons were killed Tuesday in a boiler explosion at an oil mill in Khamgaon in Buldhana district of Maharashtra, police said. As per preliminary information, the incident occurred when boiler welding work was on. Police have given names of the deceased as Shaikh Musheer Shaikh Hanif, 30, and Shaikh Isarar Shaikh Abrar. Details of the exact circumstances surrounding the mishap are awaited, a local police official said.

Winners of children's online painting competition announced

Kerala Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran Tuesday announced the winners ofthe international children's online painting competition in memory of prodigious child artist Edmund Clint. Surendran announced a list of 110 winners out of which 15 got selected for tour packages with family. Parth Joshi, (12) of Vadodara in Gujarat bagged the first prize, a press release issued by the department said. "He, along with four other top winners from India, become eligible for a five-night Kerala travel accompanied by two members of the family," the release quoted the minister as saying. The release said the jury went through close to 39,000 works it received from 4-16 age group across as many as 96 countries. Nafisa Tabassum Authay (14) of Bangladesh won the second prize. Former CM Janakiraman laid to rest in his native village in TN

Former Puducherry Chief Minister and senior DMK leader R V Janakiraman, who passed away at a private hospital here, was laid to rest with full state honours at his native Alathur village in Tamil Nadu. He had died at the hospital here Monday due to age related ailments. The body was kept at his residence here to enable the public pay homage and later taken by road to Alathur. Full state honours was accorded to the leader and a 21 gun salute by the Puducherry Armed police was also given to him. The Puducherry government had announced a three day mourning since Monday in memory of the leader. Among those who paid their last respects were Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy, DMK president M K Stalin, Ministers of the union territory, DMK legislators and cadres and former agriculture minister R Viswanathan (CPI). He was Puducherry Chief Minister from 1996 to 2000. He was elected from Nellithope segment here for five consecutive terms from 1985.

2nd Swede jailed for royal jewels heist

A Swedish court has sentenced a second man to three years in prison in connection with the theft of 17th-century royal treasures estimated to be worth 65 million kronor (USD 7 million) from a cathedral west of Stockholm last year. The Attunda District Court said Tuesday Martin Cannermo was guilty of complicity in stealing two crowns and an orb used at the funerals of King Karl IX and Queen Kristina. The man, whose DNA was found on the regalia, had denied any wrongdoing. In February, the main suspect, Johan Nicklas Backstrom, was given four-and-a-half years in prison for stealing the regalia from Strangnas Cathedral. The jewels were discovered February 5 in a garbage bin north of Stockholm.

Demi Lovato's drug dealer charged for shoplifting, possessing heroin

The man who is believed to have supplied singer Demi Lovato drugs that gave her a near-fatal overdose in July last year, is now facing three misdemeanour counts.According to TMZ, Brandon Johnson is facing misdemeanours for shoplifting, possession of heroin, ketamine after allegedly trying to steal some expensive goods from Macy's.Johnson was found to have walked into the store in San Fernando Valley, California.
