A man was arrested from Kashipur in Uttarakhand's Udham Singh Nagar district on Thursday for possession of two live hand grenades, police said.The man identified as Sarjit was in possession of a "High-Explosive grenade", police said."Bomb Disposal Squad found it to be a High-Explosive grenade. A 26-year-old woman and her four-year-old son were found dead at their house in Central Delhi's Prem Nagar area here on Thursday evening, police said.Patel Nagar police station received a PCR call at 7:03 pm that one boy has been discovered hanging inside a house in Prem Nagar, near Gaushala Mandir, Patel Nagar. Subsequently, another call was received at 7:09 pm claiming a woman and child were found dead in the house.The woman, Roopa Devi, was found lying on the floor of the house with her throat slit. A 30-year-old man, who is suspected to be a member of the Tillu gang and involved in the killing a rival criminal in Najafgarh last year, was arrested, police said Thursday. The bodies of a woman and her four-year-old son were found at their rented accommodation in Central Delhi's Prem Nagar Thursday evening, police said. The woman has been identified as Roopa Devi (26) and the child as Rocky. The bodies were found on the floor and the woman's throat was slit, they said. It is suspected that Devi was strangulated and then her throat was slit. The child, it seems was hanged, police said, adding that the woman's husband and brother-in-law have been questioned. The Calcutta High Court on Thursday directed that "no coercive step" be taken against former Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar for a month by the CBI in Saradha chit fund scam case.Kumar had earlier in the day moved a plea in the court seeking quashing of a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) notice that had asked him to appear before the agency in connection with the case.While accepting Kumar's plea, a vacation bench of Justice PP Banerjee asked the police officer to deposit his passport and cooperate with the agency in the investigation.Kumar was also instructed by the court to not go outside Kolkata. The Gurgaon police has arrested two persons for allegedly molesting a minor girl after inviting her to a birthday party, a police officer said on Thursday. Aman and Ashutosh, both 26, were arrested from Ashok Vihar area, where they were hiding, on Wednesday night under the POCSO Act, Gurgaon police PRO Subhash Bokan said. During interrogation, Aman disclosed that he is unmarried and runs a cab. He said he befriended the 17-year-old girl a few months ago and had on Tuesday invited her to his birthday party, Bokan added. "When the girl reached the said place, he came along with Ashutosh to receive her. As soon as the victim boarded the car, they started molesting her. They threatened her with dire consequences if she disclosed the matter with the police," he added. The victim later narrated her ordeal to her mother and filed a complaint against the two persons, the officer added.

Three Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials were Thursday arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 4.50 lakh, the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) said. The civic officials had sought the bribe in lieu of giving permission to the woman complainant to carry out renovation work at her residence, it said. The accused were identified as executive engineer Prahlad Mahisi, junior engineer Dhananjay Suryavanshi and sub engineer Chandrasekhar Dighaokar, an official said. The three officials, in connivance with a private person identified as Harish Patkar, demanded a bribe of Rs 6 lakh from the complainant, the anti-graft agency said. However, the amount was later settled at Rs 4.50 lakh. Thereafter, the complainant approached the ACB, which laid a trap and arrested the accused, the official said.

A 45-year-old man was arrested from Khajrana area in the city for allegedly repeatedly raping his three daughters, two of them minors, police said on Thursday. The accused was arrested on Wednesday, police said, adding that he was Thursday produced before a court, which remanded him in judicial custody till June 12. "We arrested the accused for raping his three daughters aged 15, 17 and 19. He had been sexually assaulting them for the last four years by threatening them with a sword," police inspector Pritam Singh Thakur said. The accused, a building contractor, used to threaten his daughters that if they told about their ordeal to anyone, he would hack them to death with the sword, the police officer said. The foot over-bridge (FoB) outside the iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) here collapsed due to heavy corrosion, a forensic report from a city-based engineering college has said. The collapse of the bridge during rush hour on March 14 killed seven people and injured 30. Police cited the forensic report in a supplementary charge sheet filed in a local court Thursday. Three civic officials and a private structural auditor have been booked in the case for alleged negligence. Police had asked experts from the government-run Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI) to conduct a forensic analysis. The charge sheet cited the report as saying that the bridge collapsed due to heavy corrosion. The thickness of iron parts had decreased from 15 mm to 2 mm, it said. A man was arrested in southern Nepal for allegedly sacrificing a toddler to attain occult power, police said here on Thursday. The 55-year-old shaman, identified as Shatrudhan Mahato, was arrested from Dhanusha district on Wednesday, Superintendent of Police Shekhar Khanal said. Mahato allegedly "sacrificed the two-and-a-half-year old boy to attain occult power," the SP said, adding that he slit the throat of the child. The boy went missing on May 6. His dead body was discovered on May 7, following which the child's grandfather complained to the police alleging that Mahato murdered his grandson. The police registered an FIR against the shaman and he was arrested subsequently. The murder weapon as well as the clothes Mahato was wearing during the incident have been confiscated from his possession, Khanal said. According to a police investigation, Mahato abducted the child while he was playing in the courtyard of his house. The family of the child was away when the abduction took place.

A 23-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing another person in northeast Delhi's Welcome area, police said Thursday. The accused has been identified as Danish, a resident of Welcome area.
