The Union Cabinet Wednesday approved a bill for the creation of an independent and autonomous regime for institutionalised domestic and international arbitration. The New Delhi International Arbitration Centre (NDIAC) Bill, 2019, which seeks to replace an ordinance issued in March this year by the previous government will be introduced in the coming session of Parliament beginning Monday. A statement issued by the government said the Bill provides for setting up of an independent an autonomous body for institutional arbitration and to acquire and transfer the undertakings of the International Centre For Alternative Dispute Resolution (ICADR) to the New Delhi International Arbitration Centre (NDIAC) with effect from March 2 this year. A 25-year-old man has been booked for allegedly stabbing his 22-year-old girlfriend to death suspecting that she was cheating on him, police said Wednesday. The incident occurred in Chandannagar area on Tuesday evening where the deceased, Veena Patle, had gone to meet the accused, Kiran Shinde, who had gone incommunicado since the last few days. "Shinde and Patle were working in an IT firm as back office support staffs and their friendship turned into a relationship," a police official said. Shinde, however, of late started suspecting that Patle was cheating on him, he added. "It has been revealed that since Shinde was not in contact with anyone for the last few days, Patle and their common friend Prakash Gapat came to Chandannagar area on Tuesday night," he said. During an argument, Shinde stabbed Patle with a sharp-edged weapon and fled, he said, adding that the victim died at hospital. Shinde as been absconding since the crime, he added.

Israeli prosecutors confirmed Wednesday a plea bargain has been reached with the wife of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over accusations she used state funds to fraudulently pay for hundreds of meals. Under the deal in the case that has received intense media coverage, Sara Netanyahu would plead guilty to a lesser charge of exploiting the mistake of another person as well as pay a fine and compensation. A special CBI court Wednesday held three men guilty of shooting dead a 17-year-old girl five years ago in a village near here. Special Judge Vinayak Singh also convicted the trio, Rohtash, Sunil and Lalit, all brothers, of injuring the girl's parents in a fight over land dispute with them in Muthber village under Bhorakala police station in the district in March 2014. The judge decided to pronounce sentence in the case Thursday. The case was assigned to the CBI for investigation by the Supreme Court. Public Prosecutor Darshan Singh said the case pertained to a fight over the land dispute in which the assailants barged into the girl's house and attacked her parents Suresh Pal and Anita. An ACB official was injured Wednesday when a police inspector, who is facing corruption charges, allegedly fired a bullet while resisting his arrest at a police station in Akola in Maharashtra, police said. According to police, the accused Nandkishor Nagalkar fired from his service revolver at Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials who had reached Pinjar police station to arrest him. An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped by two boys at a village in Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh, police said Wednesday. In a crime that looked like a real life version of a Bollywood potboiler, over a dozen men posed as Income Tax sleuths and robbed cash and goods worth more than Rs 81 lakh from a businessman in suburban Dahisar last week, police said Wednesday. A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her friend in northwest Delhi's Bharat Nagar area, police said Wednesday. The matter came to limelight on Tuesday after the minor girl complained of uneasiness, after which she was taken to a hospital. During medical examination, she was found to be pregnant, the police said. A complaint was filed with the police by the girl's parents on Tuesday after she narrated the incident to them. "In the police complaint, the victim's parents alleged that the accused befriended their daughter, who was studying in a girls school in Bharat Nagar, and raped her around six months ago," said a senior police officer. The accused had also threatened the girl not to disclose the incident to anyone, police said.
