A doctor of a private hospital in Delhi has been detained by the Kanpur police in connection with its probe into a kidney racket, which was busted in February, an official said Saturday. "Dr Dipak Shukla was detained in Delhi on Friday night and has been brought to Kanpur for investigation," Superintendent of Police (Crime), Kanpur, Rajesh Yadav, told PTI over phone. Shukla is the CEO of a private hospital in Delhi and was detained by a Special Investigation Team, he said, without elaborating on details of the probe. Police have arrested two people, including a minor, for allegedly molesting a woman of South African nationality under Shrivardhan police station limits of Maharashtra's Raigad district.The incident took place on June 6 when the woman was going to her hotel room. City police have arrested a trader from Kutch district in Gujarat for allegedly duping farmers from Kolhapur in Maharashtra, police said on Saturday. The accused, identified as Sumit Asnani alias Mahesh Gulabchandani (49), was arrested on June 6, police said. "He and his partner had set up Ashtavinayak Trading Company in Thane and procured over 14 tonnes of cashews worth over Rs one crore from several farmers in Kolhapur last year. They sold the cashew stock, but shut the business and fled without paying anything to the farmers," inspector Sandeep Bagul of Thane crime branch said. A 30-year-old woman was allegedly murdered in Sanguem taluka of South Goa and two persons were arrested in this connection, police said on Saturday. The body of the victim, Valancia Fernandes, was recovered from a forest area of a village on Friday morning and the two accused- Shailesh Velip (25) and another person- were arrested hours later, police said. Police have arrested five highway robbers following a brief exchange of gunfire, a senior officer said on Saturday. The gang was trying to escape with a truck from Hapur under the Budhahana Police Station area when they were intercepted by the police on Friday. In the ensuing encounter, two robbers-- Sukhbir and Rajender-- were injured as the police team managed to arrested all the five gang members, SSP Sudhir Kumar said.
