Three persons were arrested for stealing an SUV from a car dealer after throwing chilli powder in his eyes while they were out for a drive in east Delhi's Preet Vihar, police said on Thursday. Niraj Rajput (19), Abhishek Nagar (20) and Aman Bainsla (19), all residents of Faridabad, also stole the victim's mobile phone before pushing him out and fleeing with the vehicle, they said. The incident was reported on May 31 by the victim who deals in the sale and purchase of pre-owned cars, police said. In his complaint, he reported that the trio, posing as potential buyers, had visited his dealership in east Delhi looking for a Mahindra Scorpio SUV. Two brothers were allegedly hacked to death by a man following a heated argument in Odisha's Keonjhar district on Thursday, a police officer said here. The accused, identified as Udhab Nayak, has been arrested and a probe has been initiated in the case, he said. Udhab had reportedly visited the brothers in an inebriated condition, at Kasia village in Bamebari police station area of the district, he said. It is not clear what led to the argument between them, but Udhab attacked Sambhar Nayak, one of the victims, with an axe, causing him to collapse on the floor, the officer said. The other brother, Karmu, who tried to rescue his brother was also not spared by Udhab, he said. The accused was handed over to police by neighbours and local people, who rushed to the Nayak brothers' household on hearing them scream. The brothers were taken to a nearby hospital, where the doctors declared them "brought dead", the officer added.
A builder allegedly shot himself dead with his licensed pistol over a property dispute in the presence of his family members here, police said Thursday. Naveen Jain was living in a separate house and had come to her mother's place at Gupta Colony in Dharampura Wednesday, asking her to divide the ancestral property equally, said SP (City) Shlok Kumar. Naveen had a heated argument with his family members and allegedly shot himself dead, the SP said. The police recovered a suicide note from his mobile phone. The statement of all family members would be recorded and action would be taken against those named in the suicide note, the SP added. The Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday arrested three persons in connection with the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) paper leak scam case.The accused were identified as Akshay Kumar Malik, Dharmendra and Sandeep Mathur. Two men were arrested for allegedly robbing an elderly after barging into his home in northwest Delhi's Ashok Vihar, police said Thursday. Dhanpat Rai Gupta, 85, and his wife were at home when the incident occurred on April 20, they said. The accused -- Karan (20) and Amit Kumar (19) -- were nabbed and a motorcycle used in commission of the crime was recovered from their possession, the police said. In his complaint, Gupta reported that three men aged about 20-22 years robbed him of around Rs 1 lakh, some silver coins and important documents from an almirah after entering into his home as the main door was left open, Deputy Commissioner of Police (northwest) Vijayanta Arya said. In the CCTV fooatge, the accused were seen coming on a motorcycle but their images were not clear, she said. Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT) Thursday rejected NSE's plea for allowing it to provide bank guarantee instead of transferring Rs 687 crore from escrow account to Sebi in co-location case. The tribunal, however, granted an additional week to the exchange to comply with the May 22 order which directed NSE to transfer Rs 687 crore to Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) within two weeks from the escrow account. "In our view, we do not find any reason to modify our order dated May 22, 2019. The appellant (NSE) should transfer the amount which is already kept in the escrow account as per the interim order of Sebi to be transferred to Sebi account as per our order dated May 22, 2019," SAT said while rejecting NSE's plea. The accused Shahrukh, a resident of Govindpura in Jagatpuri along with his 24-year-old female associate were later arrested, police said Thursday.
