BJP candidate Pragya Singh Thakur on Friday won her first ever Lok Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal, by a margin of 3,64,822 lakh votes.Thakur won a total of 8,66,482 votes in the constituency.In 2014, Congress leader Alok Sanjar had won by a margin of 3,70,696 votes.Speaking to media persons, she said: "I have won the trust of the people. BJP leader Ravi Shakar Prasad on Friday retained the Patna Sahib Lok Sabha constituency for the saffron party after defeating sitting MP Shatrughan Sinha by a margin of 2.84 lakh voters.The Rajya Sabha MP polled whopping 6,07,506, while the incumbent Sinha got 3,22,849 seats.Former BJP leader and actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha was the winner from the seat in 2009 and 2014 but joined the Congress party in 2019 after differences arose between him and the party leadership.Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) are fighting the Lok Sabha elections in a grand coalition. Indian envoy rules out talks with Pakistan unless it stops supporting terror
India can no longer hold talks with Pakistan until it gives up its policy of supporting terrorism, the country's Ambassador to the US Harsh Vardhan Shringla said, hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi was reelected in a general election fought on a strong nationalistic sentiment in the aftermath of the Pulwama terror attack. SKM's Indra Hang Subba wins lone LS seat in Sikkim
The result on the lone Lok Sabha constituency in Sikkim went on a predictable line with Indra Hang Subba of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) winning the seat. Over the past four decades, voters of Sikkim have traditionally sent the state's ruling party candidate to the Lok Sabha, and this time too they did not make exception. The SKM has won the assembly polls with a slender majority -- winning 17 seats against SDF's 15. SKM's Subba polled 1,54,999 votes, defeating his nearest rival D B Katwal of the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) by over 11,000 votes. Katwal bagged 1,43,414 votes.
