BJP leads in 58 seats in UP

The BJP forged ahead of its rivals in 58 of the 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh while the BSP-SP alliance was leading in 19 seats as counting of votes progressed, according to Election Commission trends. In Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was leading by over 55,000 votes against his SP rival. In the high-profile Amethi seat, BJP's Smriti Irani established an early lead of 1,931 votes against sitting MP and Congress president Rahul Gandhi while UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi was leading in neighbouring Rae Bareli by over 17,000 votes. Odisha trends: BJD ahead in 12 seats, BJP in nine

The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) candidates were leading in 12 Lok Sabha seats in Odisha while the BJP was ahead in nine constituencies as per initial trends, officials said Thursday. Odisha has 21 Lok Sabha seats. In Aska Lok Sabha seat BJD candidate Pramila Bisoi is leading against her nearest BJP rival Anita Subahdarshini by 17,404 votes. BJD candidate Rabindra Kumar Jena was leading by 262 votes in Balaslore Lok Sabha seat. Cliffhanger fight in Tamil Nadu Assembly Polls: DMK leading on 10, AIADMK at 9

A cliffhanger fight is on between Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) for the majority in the Tamil Nadu Assembly as counting of votes progressed in the by-elections for 22 seats.Out of the total 18 seats of which trends are known as of now, MK Stalin led DMK is leading on 10 seats while the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is ahead on 23 seats out of a total of 48 while Shiv Sena is leading on 20 seats, according to Election Commission of India (ECI) figures.The BJP and its ally Shiv Sena is leading on all six seats of Mumbai.The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is leading on 4 seats while All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen is leading on 1 seat.The Lok Sabha polls that commenced on April 11 and wrapped up on May 19, saw approximately 900 million voters exercising their franchise and deciding the fate of 7,928 candidates across 542 seats in the country. Swaraj congratulates Modi for 'big win'

Senior BJP leader and Minority Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Thursday congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and thanked the people on the BJP's "big victory" in the Lok Sabha polls. Riding on a massive Modi wave sweeping through most parts of India, the BJP was set to return to power as it led in 295 seats while the Congress trailed far behind with 50, according to trends released Thursday by the Election Commission for all 542 seats that went to polls. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi -- Many Congratulations for securing such a big victory for the BJP. I am thankful to the people," Swaraj tweeted. With its allies, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance could win 343 seats in the 543-member Lok Sabha. In the last election, the NDA had 336 seats while BJP accounted for 282.

Madhya Pradesh: BJP leads in 28, Cong in 1 Lok Sabha seat

The BJP was ahead in 28 of the 29 Lok Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh while the Congress was leading in one seat, as per trends available so far. BJP's Pragya Singh Thakur was leading over Congress' Digvijay Singh by 44,222 votes in Bhopal, while Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia was trailing by 18,456 votes in his traditional Guna seat against BJP's K P Yadav. UDF leading in 18 seats

Congress led-UDF is leading in 18 out of the 20 Lok Sabha seats in Kerala with AICC President Rahul Gandhi leading in Wayanad constituency with 1,09,612 votes. Delhi: BJP leads in all seven seats, Cong second in two constituencies

The BJP is leading the trends in all seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi, with the Congress trailing in five constituencies and the AAP in two seats, poll officials said.
