Manoj Tiwari confident of 'abki baar, 300 paar'

Manoj Tiwari, the chief of Delhi BJP unit, said that his party will come back to power with more than 350 seats, as counting of votes for 542 Lok Sabha seats began on Thursday."Last time, the nation was looking for hope and made the BJP win with around 300 seats. But, this time, it is all about people's trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and they all are happy with his performance. I am sure we will come to power with over 350 seats," Tiwari told ANI.In one of the keenly watched seats in the country, North East Delhi is witnessing a triangular fight between incumbent Manoj Tiwari, former chief minister Sheila Dikshit from Congress and Dilip Pandey from AAP."In Congress, all people are not bad. West Bengal: Babul Supriyo leading from Asansol, Abhishek

Union minister Babul Supriyo and sitting MPs Abhishek Banerjee and greenhorn Mimi Chakrabory were among those taking the lead from their respective constituencies in West Bengal, according to initial EC trends. Union minister Babul Supriyo of the BJP is leading by 21379 votes against Moon Moon Sen of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) from Asansol Lok Sabha seat,as per the trends. Chhattisgarh: BJP leading in 6 seats, Cong ahead in 5

The BJP and Congress are leading in six and five Lok Sabha seats respectively in Chhattisgarh, as per the initial trends available in all 11 seats. Congress' sitting MLA Dipak Baij is leading in Naxal- hit Bastar (ST) Lok Sabha seat. In the high-profile Raipur seat, Congress' Pramod Dubey is ahead of his rivals. India votes in favour of UNGA resolution demanding UK withdraw from Chagos Archipelago

India was among 116 nations to vote in favour of a UN General Assembly resolution that demanded the UK withdraw its "colonial administration" from the Chagos Archipelago unconditionally within six months, supporting Mauritius in its quest for the restoration of sovereignty over the island chain in the Indian Ocean. The General Assembly adopted the resolution Wednesday 'Advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice on the legal consequences of the separation of the Chagos Archipelago from Mauritius in 1965' with 116 votes in favour, 56 abstentions and six nations voting against, including the UK, the United States, Australia, Israel and the Maldives. The UK retained sovereignty over the islands after Mauritius gained its independence from Britain in 1968. The islands have since been used for defence purposes by the UK and the United States, which established a military base on the island of Diego Garcia. The entire Chagossian population was forcibly removed from the territory .

AIADMK ahead in 5 assemly seats, DMK in four

Archrivals DMK and AIADMK were in a neck-to-neck race in the bypolls to 22 Assembly seats in Tamil Nadu, with the ruling party ahead in five and DMK in four segments. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is trailing in Kuppam Assembly segment according to trends available from the Election Commission. The Telugu Desam Party supremo was trailing by 67 votes against YSR Congress' Krishna Chandra Mouli when the first round of counting was taken up. The YSR Congress established early leads after counting of postal ballots was done for the 175 assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats that went to polls on April 11. YSRC president Jaganmohan Reddy secured a lead of over 2,000 votes in Pulivendula assembly segment, according to the Election Commission. As per initial trends, the YSRC is leading in over 15 assembly segments while the ruling Telugu Desam Party is ahead in four. : Opposition Congress led UDF is ahead in all the 20 Lok Sabha seats in Kerala, as per the initial trends released by the Election Commission. In the prestigious Wayanad constituency, Congress President Rahul Gandhi, is ahead by 34,989 votes against his nearest rival P P Suneer of the CPI. The ruling BJP is leading in all four Lok Sabha seats of Himachal Pradesh Thursday, a state election officer said. In Mandi, sitting BJP MP Ram Swaroop is leading by 46,000 votes against his nearest rival Aashray Sharma of Congress. BJP candidate Kishan Kapoor is leading by 41,000 votes over his nearest rival Pawan Kajal of Congress in Kangra seat, the officer said.
