Rajasthan govt increases workdays to 125 under its job guarantee scheme

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has approved a proposal to increase the number of workdays from 100 to 125 under the Indira Gandhi Urban Employment Guarantee Scheme. A state government statement said that the scheme, started on the lines of central government's Mahatma Gandhi NREGA, is proving helpful for the jobless in the cities. This amendment will be effective from April 1, 2023. An expenditure of about Rs 1,100 crore is likely to be incurred for providing additional 25 days' work to the urban unemployed, the statement said. Gehlot had made the announcement in the budget 2023-24. The scheme was implemented in the year 2022-23. Last year, a budget of Rs 800 crore was allocated to provide 100 days of employment per family under the scheme. Under the scheme, people can get work through a job card, which they can issued by producing Jan Aadhaar card and fulfilling other formalities. Rajasthan approves Rs 1,745 cr for improving roads, bridges in rural area

The Rajasthan government has approved Rs 1,745.73 crore for the construction, upgradation and strengthening of rural roads and bridges, according to an official statement. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has okayed a proposal to this effect, it said. A total 266 roads and 35 bridges will be covered under the project. As many as 301 works will be undertaken, covering 2,369 kilometer rural road length and 3,369 metre bridges. The project will be carried out by the Public Works Department.

Gehlot alleges Union min's involvement in Sanjivani Credit Society scam

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday accused Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat of being involved in the alleged Sanjivani Credit Cooperative Society scam, saying police investigation has proven his involvement. His comments come a day after Shekhawat accused Gehlot of indulging in his character assassination due to frustration as he had defeated the Congress leader's son in the last Lok Sabha election. Gehlot said that Shekhawat is trying to mislead the public in the case even though the Special Operations Group (SOG) has showed his involvement in the matter, just like other arrested accused. Pakistani drone entering India with drugs shot down by BSF in Rajasthan

A Pakistani drone entering India from across the international border in Rajasthan has been shot down by the Border Security Force (BSF) on Monday evening, a spokesperson of the force said. The flying machine was downed in the Sriganganagar sector of the state and five packets of "suspected" narcotics, that were being ferried, has been recovered, he said. Govt committed to overall development of tribal regions, says CM Gehlot

The Rajasthan government is committed to the overall development of tribal regions and the state Budget includes "many important gifts" for the area's overall development, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said on Saturday. The chief minister was speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of Government Community Health Centre at Dhariyavad assembly segment in Pratapgarh district where he inaugurated projects worth Rs 11.74 crore. He also laid the foundation stone of 10 projects worth Rs 59.68 crore. "The state government has not kept any shortfall in the Budget for the welfare of the tribals. NIA carries out searches at 7 locations in Rajasthan in PFI conspiracy case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday conducted searches at seven locations in Rajasthan in connection with a case pertaining to unlawful activities by the banned outfit Popular Front of India (PFI), an official said. The raids were conducted at three places in Kota and one each in Madhopur, Bhilwara, Bundi and Jaipur districts on residential and commercial premises of suspects, a spokesperson of the federal anti-terror agency said. During the searches, the official said, digital devices, an airgun, sharp weapons and incriminating documents were seized. The spokesperson said the searches were conducted as a follow up to a case registered suo moto by the NIA on September 19 last year after getting information from reliable sources that PFI members Sadiq Sarraf of Baran and Mohammed Asif of Kota were indulging in "unlawful activities" along with other office-bearers and cadres. Further investigation in the case is in progress, the spokesperson said.

Truck carrying LPG cylinders rams into another in Ajmer, four dead

An LPG-laden truck collided with another one carrying marble in Rajasthan's Ajmer district, leaving four people dead and another injured, police said on Friday. The accident occurred on national highway-8 near Rani Bagh resort on Thursday night, leading to a huge traffic jam on the highway, they said. The fire engulfed neighbouring shops and residences causing damage to property. "Four persons were burnt alive and another was injured in the accident. Neighbouring shops and residences also caught fire," Ajmer Superintendent of Police Chunaram Jat said. He said the fire was doused late last night and traffic has now been restored on the highway. Police teams are assessing the loss and identifying the bodies, he added.

CM Gehlot announces 100,000 jobs across Rajasthan current financial year

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday announced one lakh recruitment in the coming financial year as he called the state budget "excellent." Gehlot made the announcement while replying to a debate on the budget for the financial year 2023-24 in the state assembly. "While presenting the budget on February 10, I had announced to ensure recruitment on the vacant posts in the coming financial year in addition to the appointments which are under process," he said. Out of 302 blocks of Rajasthan, groundwater is 'over-exploited' in 219

About 219 of Rajasthan's 302 blocks, including seven urban areas, fall under the 'over-exploited' category in terms of groundwater usage, the Assembly was informed on Wednesday. In reply to a question by BJP member and Deputy Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathore, the government said the latest groundwater analysis report from March 2022 showed that 219 blocks were 'over-exploited'. Among the others, 22 blocks are 'critical', 20 are 'semi-critical' and 38 are in the 'safe' category, it said. Three blocks were not included in the analysis due to saline groundwater. The seven urban areas included are Ajmer, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Kota, Udaipur and Bikaner. Sixteen blocks in Jaipur are over-exploited -- the highest in the state -- followed by Jodhpur (15), Nagaur (14) and Barmer (14). The Rajasthan Export Promotion Council (REPC) has signed MoUs with local and overseas industry chambers to promote the Rajasthan International Expo to be held in Jodhpur from March 20-22, an official said.
