The Delhi High Court on Tuesday sought response of the Centre and police on a plea by city minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa seeking production of a police officer's report which had allegedly mentioned presence of Congress leader Kamal Nath during a riot at Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Sahib here in 1984. Justice Ravinder Dudeja issued notice to the police and the central government on the application and asked them to file their replies on or before January 15, 2026, the next date of hearing. The application sought a direction to the authorities to place on record the report submitted by Gautam Kaul, the then Additional Commissioner of Police, to the then police commissioner categorically showing the presence of Nath at the scene of crime, that is, Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Sahib. Congress accuses Centre of mass deletions in MGNREGA worker database

The Congress on Monday attacked the government over the reported deletion of nearly 27 lakh workers' names from the MGNREGA database between October 10 and November 14 this year, saying this is not an isolated act but a "systematic attempt to end" the rural jobs scheme. The opposition party also reiterated its demands, including a minimum MGNREGA wage of Rs 400 per day and an immediate halt to the mandatory adoption of exclusionary technology like Aadhaar-Based Payment System (ABPS), National Mobile Monitoring System (NMMS), and e-KYC. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said though tribals contributed greatly to India's freedom struggle, the Congress never recognised their contribution and left them to their own fate during the party's 60-year rule after Independence. Ruling parties Friday lost four of the eight seats where assembly bypolls were held on November 11 with the Congress bagging one seat in BJP-ruled Rajasthan and the PDP handing the National Conference its first ever defeat in its stronghold of Budgam in Jammu and Kashmir. Campaigning ends for Mizoram's Dampa bypoll, voting scheduled for Tuesday

Hectic campaigning for the by-election to the Dampa assembly seat in Mizoram's Mamit district ended on Sunday, election officials said. Polling for the Dampa seat will be held on Tuesday, where 21,003 voters are eligible to exercise their franchise to decide the fate of five candidates, they said.
