Six computer monitors were allegedly stolen from the recruitment cell office of the Delhi Police at New Police Lines (NPL) here.The incident came to light when six computers were found missing when a police officer opened the office on May 27, the police said."A spot inspection was carried out by the crime squad and it was revealed that the barrack no.5, from where the computers were stolen, is situated on the first floor and no lock was broken," Mukherjee Nagar Station House Officer(SHO) said.A case has been registered at the Mukherjee Nagar police station.Further investigation is underway.

A local politician has been booked for allegedly blackmailing a Vasai-Virar corporator and extorting money from him, the police said Friday. Interestingly, the corporator, Arun Jadhav, himself has been arrested on charges of carrying out illegal construction and land grabbing in Vasai town of Palghar district located adjoining Mumbai. A 23-year-old Indian national was sentenced to over seven years in federal prison by a US court for his role in an Indian call centre scam involving conspiracy to commit wire fraud and aggravated identity theft. Sharvil Patel, who pleaded guilty to the crime in February this year, was sentenced to seven years and six months in prison on Thursday, becoming the third Indian to be sentenced for his involvement in the call centre scam. In March, Nishit kumar Patel was sentenced to 8 years and 9 months in prison for his involvement in the scam. Hemalkumar Shah was sentenced to 8 years and 6 months in jail in April. Two others, Brenda Dozier and Alejandro Juarez were sentenced to 21 months and 15 months in prison respectively.
