Nama Nageswara Rao elected TRS leader in Lok Sabha

Nama Nageswara Rao was Thursday elected leader of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi in Lok Sabha. A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the TRS Parliamentary Party, chaired by TRS president and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, party sources said. Nama Nageswara Rao was elected to the Lok Sabha from Khammam. Rajya Sabha member K Keshav Rao was elected as TRS parliamentary party leader, the sources said. Keshav Rao was also elected as the partys leader in Rajya Sabha.

Reorganisation in INLD, Om Prakash Chautala stays president

Ahead of the October assembly elections in Haryana, the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) reorganised its national body, retaining jailed former chief minister Om Prakash Chutala as the party president. Ashok Kumar Arora, who had stepped down as the party's state unit chief after the drubbing in the Lok Sabha elections recently, has been made the senior vice-president, a party release said Thursday. "After extensive discussions with the state and district-level leaders and workers, the national body of the INLD has been reorganised. Chaudhary Om Prakash Chautala remains the national president of the party," the party release stated. It added that Chautala would be assisted by Ashok Arora as the new senior vice-president of the party. China says UN rights chief 'always' welcome in Xinjiang

China said Thursday that the UN human rights chief had an open invitation to visit Xinjiang, a region where some one million mostly Muslim minorities are held in internment camps. Beijing's new ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, Chen Xu, reiterated the government's denial of the existence of camps there, insisting the region had "vocational education training", especially for youth vulnerable to extremism. Chen added that he hoped the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, would "pay a visit" to the region. "Seeing is believing," Chen told reporters. CSCs to restart Aadhaar related work within a week

People in rural areas will soon be able to access Aadhaar-related services at the common service centres following the UIDAI's authorisation to these centres to resume such services, a senior official said. Common service centres (CSC) stopped providing Aadhaar-related services after the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) withdrew authorisation from them following debates around data security of the 12-digit unique identifier. "UIDAI has authorised CSCs to start printing of Aadhaar cards. Users will be charged standard fees as prescribed by UIDAI. This work is expected to start in a week," CSC e-Governance Services CEO Dinesh Tyagi told PTI. There are 3.9 lakh village level entrepreneurs (VLE) that are running common service centres in rural areas across the country. UP govt announces financial aid for kin of two CRPF jawans killed in Anantnag attack

The Uttar Pradesh government Thursday announced financial assistance for the kin of two CRPF jawans from the state who were killed in a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid his tributes to Satendra Kumar from Shamli and Mahesh Kushwaha from Ghazipur who were among the five CRPF jawans killed in the strike on Wednesday.
