As the initial EC trends Thursday indicated another term for the NDA government at the Centre, sitting MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, who is leading from the Jammu parliamentary seat, said people voted for the "courageous and bold steps" taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. BJP leading in 10 Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand

The BJP is leading in 10 out of the 14 Lok Sabha constituencies in Jharkhand as per initial trends, officials said Thursday. Union Minister of state for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha has established a comfortable lead of 28, 862 votes against his nearest Congress rival Gopal Sahu in the Hazaribagh Lok Sabha seat. Union Minister of state for Tribal Affairs Sudarshan Bhagat is also leading against his nearest Congress's Sukhdeo Bhagat by 3,915 votes from Lohardaga (ST) seat. Former chief ministers Shibu Soren (JMM) and Babulal Marandi (Jharkhand Vikas Morcha-Prajatantrik) are trailing in Dumka and Koderma seats. While Soren is behind BJP's Sunil Soren by 14,778 votes, Marandi is trailing to BJP's Annapurna Devi by 22,249 votes in Koderma. National TV channels show NDA leading in more than 300 seats

Nearly two hours into counting, television channels on Thursday showed India's ruling NDA leading in more than 300 seats with the BJP at 270-plus while the UPA hovered around the 100 mark. The trends showed the Congress at 51, trends across the channels showed. According to NDTV, the BJP-led NDA was ahead in 326 seats followed by the Congress-led UPA in 111 and others in 110. CNN-News 18 indicated a bigger lead for the ruling alliance in 342 seats with the Congress-led UPA ahead in 91 and others in 112. The ruling All India Trinamool Congress in West Bengal is leading in 19 out of 42 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state, while the BJP is ahead in 14 seats, as per initial trends of the Election Commission.
