'Chernobyl' writer urges tourists to respect disaster site

The success of HBO's "Chernobyl" has led to an increase in the tourism to the disaster site in Ukraine but creator Craig Mazin has urged visitors to not post provocative pictures from there. Several tourists and social media influencers had posted provocative images from the city, which lies abandoned after the 1986 nuclear accident in city of Pripyat, Ukranian SSR. The 48-year-old writer took to Twitter to express his criticism of the images, reminding tourists about the horrors of the accident. Oil tanker falls off flyover in Nashik; two injured

The driver and cleaner of an oil- laden truck were injured when their vehicle fell off a flyover here early Thursday morning, police said. The oil tanker was on its way to Madhya Pradesh from Mumbai when the mishap took place near Indira Nagar, they said. The tanker driver lost control while overtaking another truck on the flyover, causing the vehicle to crash into railings and tumble down, the police said. The injured were identified as Shamshad Khan, the driver, and Deepen Sharma, the cleaner. They are being treated at Nashik Civil Hospital, they added.

Cyclone Vayu is skirting close to Gujarat coast but has not made landfall yet, said a top Coast Guard official here on Thursday.Speaking to ANI, DIG Coast Guard, Iqbal Singh Chauhan, said, "Right now Cyclone Vayu is skirting close to Gujarat coast, it is 150 km away from the coast. It has not made landfall yet.""We are monitoring the movement of the cyclone. It was to hit in the morning but luckily for Gujarat, it has veered off," he added.Chauhan further said, "We get information from IMD before any cyclone makes landfall. Cyclone Vayu begins skirting Saurashtra coast; alert continues

Bringing relief for Gujarat, Cyclone Vayu Thursday began moving away from the state coast, even as the danger of heavy winds and rainfall continued, officials said here. State authorities have already evacuated three lakh people from low-lying areas near the coast to safer places, an official said. Heavy rains which lashed the coastal areas were likely to continue, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said. "The cyclone is likely to move north-northwestwards for some time and then northwestwards, skirting the Saurashtra coast (and) affecting Gir Somnath, Diu, Junagarh, Porbandar and Devbhoomi Dwarka with wind speed of 90-100 kmph gusting to 110 kmph during the next 12 hours," the IMD said in a release issued at 5 pm Thursday. UP CM Adityanath pays tribute to air warriors killed in AN-32 crash

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Thursday paid tributes to the 13 people, including one from Lucknow, on board the ill-fated AN-32 aircraft of the IAF that crashed in Arunachal Pradesh. In a statement issued here, Adityanath said he saluted them. He also conveyed his condolences to the family members of Non-Combatant Putali, a resident of the Bakshi Ka Talab area of the state capital. Cyclone Vayu: 86 trains cancelled, several short terminated

The railways has cancelled 86 trains and short terminated 37 others due to cyclone Vayu, officials said Thursday. Western Railway said the cancellations were made as a precaution even though the cyclone changed its course and is unlikely to make landfall in Gujarat. However, it will cause heavy rain in several coastal districts of the state. "Considering the alertness for cyclone Vayu over Gujarat, the Western Railway has decided to fully cancel operation of 86 mainline trains, while 37 other mainline trains have been short terminated with partial cancellation as a precautionary measure in the cyclone prone areas. All 13 bodies, black box of ill-fated AN-32 plane retrieved

Bodies of all the 13 Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel on board the ill-fated AN-32 transport aircraft were retrieved on Thursday from the crash site in Arunachal Pradesh, IAF said.The black box of the plane was also recovered by a team of mountaineers that sent to the site early this morning, it said.Helicopters would be used to ferry the bodies from the area. Congress pays tributes to 13 people killed in AN-32 crash

The Congress Thursday paid tributes to the 13 people killed in the IAF aircraft crash in Arunachal Pradesh, saying the country shall remain indebted for their valiant contributions. Congress president Rahul Gandhi expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the "13 brave men in uniform". Cyclone Vayu: 9 more trains cancelled, 4 short terminated: Western Railway

In view of cyclone Vayu, Western Railways has cancelled nine trains and short terminated four other trains on Thursday, taking the total number of affected trains to 123. Tanker abandoned after coming under fire in Gulf of Oman: operator
