A 17-year-old wrestler was booked for allegedly molesting a national level girl grappler, police said Thursday. The incident took place on June 9 near Sports Authority of India (SAI) campus at Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, where the complainant had gone to attend a camp for the junior girl grapplers, they said. In a complaint lodged with the Sadar Police here, the girl, who is from Hisar, alleged that the youth molested her when she went to an ATM kiosk to withdraw money at about 7 pm. She claimed that he also tried to drag her to a nearby hotel but she managed to escape, it said. The complainant alleged that the youth also threatened her with dire consequences if she told anyone about the incident. Police arrested five Tantriks while they were performing a ' Tantrik Puja' last night in Bandarulanka village, East Godavari district.The five accused have been identified as J Ramakoteswara Rao, K Trinath Rao, R Durga Prasad, R Trinath and R Siva.Villagers of Bandarulanka in Amalapuram Mandal caught five Tantriks around midnight while they were performing a 'Tantrik puja' inside the banana plantation farm and approached the police.Amalapuram rural police went to Bandarulanka village and arrested the five occultists.Police is further investigating the matter.
An Alwar court has awarded death sentence to a man for raping and brutally killing a 4-year-old girl in Behror.Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) court judge Ajay Sharma on Wednesday passed the order against Rajkumar alias Dharmendra Yadav, special public prosecutor Vinod Kumar Sharma said."A police complaint was registered in Behror on February 1, 2015 alleging that Rajkumar lured the girl by promising a toffee. He took her to a deserted place where he raped and killed her. After sexually abusing her, he crushed her head with a stone. He also mutilated the girl's private parts," he told reporters here.Sharma said, "During the court hearing, several witnesses testified that they had seen Rajukumar with the deceased girl."Rajkumar was charged with murder, rape and other offences under the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the POCSO Act.

A married woman and her lover allegedly shot themselves dead in the district Thursday, police said. The deceased, Anju Suthar and Shamkar Chaudhary, both aged 21, were allegedly in a relationship before the woman got married sometime ago, Chohtan circle officer (CO) Ajit Singh said. Prime facie, it seemed they shot themselves dead with two country-made pistols that were recovered from the spot, Bramer SP Rashi Dogra said. In an audio clip, recovered from their mobile phone, they said to have taken the extreme step because of failing in love, the circle officer added. The bodies were sent to a hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination, Singh said.

The Kazakh prosecutor-general's office said 957 were found guilty of offences, 670 of whom were jailed while others were fined or given warnings. The CBI has booked former MP Ateeq Ahmad and others for allegedly orchestrating the abduction of a businessman from jail. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against Ahmad, former Samajwadi Party (SP) MP from Uttar Pradesh, on the charges of abduction and assault of real estate dealer Mohit Jaiswal in December 2018, officials said on Thursday. According to the officials, Jaiswal was abducted from Lucknow and taken to Deoria Jail, where he was allegedly assaulted by Ahmad and his aides, who were lodged there, and forced to transfer his business to them. Ahmad was an SP member in the 14th Lok Sabha from Phulpur in Uttar Pradesh from 2004 to 2009.
The CBI on Thursday registered a case against Former MP and gangster Atiq Ahmed and 17 others on the allegations of kidnapping and assaulting real estate dealer, Mohit Jaiswal in December 2018.On April 23, the Supreme Court (SC) had directed the CBI to investigate the case of alleged kidnapping and torturing.Jaiswal was kidnapped from Lucknow and taken to the prison where he was assaulted by the jailed don Ahmed and his aides and he was forced to transfer his business to them.On June 2, Ahmed was transferred to Ahmadabad jail from Nain central Jail in Prayagraj. The SC bench, headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, had ordered the Ahmed's transfer.Earlier, a special court had rejected Ahmed's plea seeking payroll for contesting elections against Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Varanasi. In 2014, he contested from Phulpur parliamentary constituency on the ticket of Samajwadi Party.
An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped in a village here, police said Thursday. She was lured by the accused and raped at an unknown place under the Nawabganj police station on Wednesday, they said. "The accused person knew the family members of the girl," a senior police official said. The girl's family lodged a complaint after she narrated the sequence of events. Police have registered a case. Police said a search is underway to nab the accused.
A 20-year-old man was allegedly kidnapped from Thane district in Maharashtra by some persons who had a monetary dispute with his family members, police said Thursday. Five people belonging to the state's Jalna district were booked in this connection and efforts were on to trace the victim, Mangesh Thorat, a police spokesperson said. The accused had hired some family members of Thorat as contract labourers to work in sugarcane farms in Jalna for which they paid Rs 5,000 as an advance to one of them, she said. However, as Thorat's family members did not turn up for the work, the accused came in search of them at their residence in Bhiwandi town here on Wednesday. They then allegedly kidnapped Thorat and fled in a car, she said. Three alleged drug peddlers have been arrested in Jammu and Kashmir after over nine kilograms of poppy was recovered from them in separate incidents, police said Thursday. On Wednesday, a person named Tariq Ahmed was intercepted in Poonch district and 8.50 kg of poppy was seized from him, an official said. In another incident, a patrolling team near Dhaleri bridge in Jammu district intercepted two persons -- Bajju Ram Sharma and Ashok Kumar Sharma -- and recovered 840 grams of poppy, the police said. Cases have been registered in both the incidents and an investigation is on, the official said.

The Gujarat High Court has sought a detailed report from the state government on the investigation into the Surat fire tragedy that claimed lives of 22 students of a coaching institute last month. Hearing a petition seeking a probe by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) into the incident, Justice S H Vora asked the government to submit its report by July 24. The court also issued a notice to the state government on the petition moved by Jaysukh Gajera, father of a 17-year- old girl, who died in the fire at a four-storey commercial complex in Surat. Gajera, while demanding that the probe into the incident be transferred to the state CID, also sought action against civic officials for allegedly regularising the illegal construction in complex. The petition will be taken up for next hearing on July 25. Eight people were arrested and over Rs 1 lakh cash seized after police raided a gambling den in Jalna district of Maharashtra, an official said Thursday. Acting on a tip-off, sleuths of the local crime branch raided a farmhouse at Samangaon village on Wednesday evening, he said. The police caught eight people allegedly indulging in gambling and seized Rs 1.20 lakh cash, some mobile phones, motorcycles and a sports utility vehicle (SUV) from the premises, local crime branch chief Rajendra Singh Gour said. The accused were subsequently arrested and booked under relevant sections, he added.

Police arrested a 45-year-old man for allegedly cheating people on the pretext of offering them low interest loans and seized fake currency notes having face value of Rs 8 lakh from him in Jalna district of Maharashtra, an official said Thursday. The accused, Raju Khan, a resident of Tirathpuri village, told some locals that he could arrange loans for them from a trust on low interest rates and collected Rs 52,000 from 11 people, including nine women, he said. Khan told the victims on Wednesday to come to Jalna city and wait for him outside a bank there. As the victims waited for him, he came out of the bank and handed them some bundles of notes. However, when the victims checked the currency notes, they found them to be fake with "Children Bank" written on them, the police official said. The victims caught Khanand took him to a local police station where they lodged a complaint against him, he said. The police later recovered fake currency notes in various denominations .
